All OK

I made a waffly post on my phone from the bar but it hasn't showed up. Bit annoyed. May put those in afterwards just to confuse the chronology.

Wasn't that drunk when I left and with the cold-ish air I felt pretty sober on stepping out. Bar is about five minutes from the hotel, tops, but there was a street dog barking madly on the road so I detoured. Then I saw another dog stood quietly on the corner and detoured again. No problems. The grid layout makes that sort of thing easy. I'm sure there was nothing to worry about, the street dogs here seem generally pleasant and not territorial, if I knew more about dogs and wasn't sure it would stir them up or make them follow me I'd probably stroke half the ones I see. I do like dogs, I just happen to like my throat the way it is too. And having five fingers on each hand is nice as well.

Was a bit worried they were manning the reception only because their only guest was still out. But a few minutes after I got back I heard the doorbell go (they put a grille across the door and that kind of thing at night), so clearly I'm not the only guest and not the only late night person either.

Ten to two, but I feel fine and I'm sure getting up won't be any worse than it would have been had I stayed in all night.

Punta Arenas

OK, I just booked the hotel in Punta Arenas for two nights either side of the Puerto Williams trip - they replied to my e-mail saying they will store a suitcase for me while I'm away and that the late check in when I return is no problem.

I was going to book the flights down there now but - not too unreasonably, it's 1pm here - the maid wants to come in and clean the room, so I'm getting ready to go out in a hurry. Fingers crossed the price doesn't go up again before I come back later today and book. Sigh, I could have done with a shower but it serves me right for dithering around. I'll have one later.
